  • Children's ski area
  • Ski tours
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross-country skiing

With Hündle-Thalkirchdorf and the Steibis ski arena, two ski areas in Oberstaufen can be easily reached by train. Skiers and snowboarders get their money's worth on over 30 pistes for all ability levels. With its wide slopes, the region is particularly popular with families. Nevertheless, the ski area is also popular with experienced skiers. If you want to add some variety to your winter sports fun, you can use the cross-country ski trails or go snowshoe hiking.

Steibis ski arena: Family and freestyle area

The Steibis ski arena is one of the most snow-sure ski areas in Germany. Winter sports fans can let off steam here on over 18 kilometres of pistes. The fun park is just the thing for freestylers: flatrails, jumps, downrails and other exciting obstacles leave nothing to be desired. Young skiers are in good hands at Skikinderland Imberg, where they can learn their first turns on the piste. An insider tip for ski tourers looking for off-piste fun is to start the ski tour from the Imberg plateau or the Schindelberg-Hagspiel.

Relaxed pistes with a fast-paced highlight

The Hündle ski area merges with the Thalkirchdorf ski area thanks to the gondola lift of the same name. This means almost 20 kilometres of fun on the slopes, which are divided into predominantly blue and red runs. Ideal for beginners and pleasure skiers! Advanced skiers switch to steep slope number three after the ridge lift and have a fast-paced skiing experience on the former World Cup downhill run.

Stop off and enjoy

If you need a break, the spacious sun terrace of the Hündle mountain restaurant is the place to be: Enjoy the unique mountain panorama in one of the deckchairs and fortify yourself with a hearty snack before the next ski run.

Snowshoeing away from the slopes

If you prefer a relaxed hiking tour through the white winter landscape for a change, a five-kilometre snowshoe tour is the perfect option. It's best to hire the equipment at the valley station at Sport Hauber and use the Hündlebahn cable car as a lift. The entire route takes around two hours. From the mountain station, walk below the platter lift to the edge of the forest towards the exit of the two drag lifts. Here you walk a few metres further down the Hündlegipfels. Via Buchenegg, you walk through the winter landscape to the Ifen district. There, follow the signs at the edge of the forest in the direction of Weißach. Continue downhill, past a single property, then turn right off the path towards the fish pond. There you meet the winter hiking trail. Walk past Bad Rain and continue back to the starting point at the Hündlebahn valley station.

Skiing and snowboarding within easy reach - travelling to the ski areas

From Oberstaufen train station, you can reach the Hündlebahn valley station in just under ten minutes on bus no. 39 and the Steibis Imbergbahn in 15 minutes on bus no. 95. You can find the current timetables here.
