Olympic Tower in Munich: A view over the city

Important note: The Olympic Tower has been closed since June 2024 due to renovation work. The Olympic Tower is expected to be open again from mid-2026.

From zero to almost 200 metres in 30 seconds: That's how quickly the lift in Munich's Olympic Tower takes you to the best view over Munich. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the city and, in good weather, let your eyes wander as far as the Alps.

Restaurant 181: Culinary delights with a panoramic view

Restaurant 181 is located at a height of 181 metres and not only offers you culinary highlights, but also a perfect panoramic view of the Bavarian capital. The restaurant constantly rotates slowly in a circle so that you can see the whole of Munich from above in about an hour without leaving your seat.

Tent roof tour and Flying Fox cable car: adventure at great heights

Adventure-seekers have the opportunity to experience the Olympic Stadium in a very special way. On the guided tent roof tour, you can experience the stadium's unique tent construction up close. To top it all off, you can fly over the stadium on the longest Flying Fox cable car in Europe, which is guaranteed to give your stomach a tingle.

History of the Olympic Park

The Olympic Park in Munich was built for the 1972 Olympic Games. Its sports facilities, designed by the architect Günter Behnisch and the engineer Frei Otto, are masterpieces of modern architecture and are known for their innovative, tent-like structures. Since the Games, the park has developed into a centre for entertainment and sport, regularly hosting concerts, sporting events and cultural events. The Olympic Tower, which was also opened in 1972, is a landmark of the city with its 291 metres in height and the rotating Restaurant 181, offering visitors an unforgettable view over Munich and the Alps.

Travelling to the Olympic Park

The Olympic Park is very easy to reach by public transport. The best way to get to the Olympic Park from the main railway station is by underground. Get off at the stations Olympiazentrum (U3, U8) or Milbertshofen (U2). From both stations it is only a few minutes' walk to the Olympic Tower.
