Surfing and stand-up paddling on Lake Ammersee
For water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers: Lake Ammersee is perfect for a short break and offers ideal conditions for windsurfers and stand-up paddlers.
A magnet for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers! Lake Ammersee is one of the lakes in the five-lake region and is the third largest in Bavaria after Lake Starnberg and Lake Chiemsee. Right in Herrsching, experienced instructors at numerous windsurfing schools will teach you this popular water sport - the conditions here are ideal.
Discover the lake on a stand-up paddleboard
Located directly at Herrsching train station, you can sign up for a windsurfing course at the WikiWakiWu SUP & Windsurf Station Ammersee and test your windsurfing skills. Or you can hire the right equipment for stand-up paddling and start your exploration tour across the 46-square-kilometre lake. Past green-yellow reeds and through the crystal-clear water, you head towards the paddle steamer of the Bavarian lake shipping company at the Herrschinger jetty. With a bit of luck, you might spot the sailing yacht of the last King of Württemberg, the "Albatros", which is now the flagship of the Ammersee sailing school.
Fresh fish on the beach promenade
Once back on land, you can round off your day in Mato's fish shop with a smoked trout and a "Hoiben" on the beach promenade. Or you can simply enjoy the hustle and bustle of windsurfers, sailors and boaters on the shores of Lake Ammersee before taking the S-Bahn back home.
