Interesting Facts

A trip to the Tegelberg cable car is ideal for anyone who wants to experience Bavaria's majestic landscape and historical sights up close. The Tegelberg was the local mountain of Ludwig II, the "Fairytale King" of Bavaria, and today offers an unrivalled view of his beloved homeland.

Panoramic ride to the summit: views of Neuschwanstein Castle and the Ammergebirge mountains

The ten-minute ride on the Tegelberg cable car opens up an unforgettable panorama: the view sweeps over the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle, the imposing Ammergebirge mountains and the lake landscape of the Allgäu. Once you reach the top, a marvellous "royal view" awaits you, with the fairytale castle and the landscape at your feet. Especially on a clear day, the view is magnificent - an experience that invites you to linger and savour.

Tips for hiking enthusiasts and paragliders

For hiking enthusiasts, there are numerous well-signposted hiking trails from the Tegelberg. The "Königsrunde am Tegelberg" is a circular tour that offers a wonderful insight into the Allgäu mountains. Adventurers can also try their hand at paragliding , as the Tegelberg is a very popular launch site. On clear days, paragliders can enjoy breathtaking views over the Allgäu and the Alpine foothills.

Refreshment tip: Tegelberghaus panorama restaurant

Directly on the Tegelberg, the Tegelberghaus panorama restaurant offers the perfect opportunity for a culinary break. The restaurant serves Bavarian specialities such as Allgäu Kässpätzle and crispy roast pork, complemented by a magnificent panoramic view. The spacious sun terrace invites you to enjoy the mountain panorama with a refreshing drink.

Travelling to the Tegelbergbahn

Travelling to the Tegelbergbahn is uncomplicated and environmentally friendly. From Füssen railway station, bus no. 78 will take you directly to the valley station in Schwangau in around 15 minutes. From there, the Tegelbergbahn cable car takes you comfortably to the summit. If you are travelling by train from Munich or Augsburg, we recommend travelling to Füssen by train and then taking the bus to the Tegelbergbahn.

Best time to visit and season tips

The Tegelberg is worth a visit at any time of year. In spring and summer, the blossoming meadows and clear views are enticing. Autumn offers a particularly picturesque backdrop with its colourful deciduous forests. And the Tegelberg is also worth a visit in winter, as the snow-covered Alps offer a magical sight. Please note that it can get particularly crowded in the high season and at weekends - those who arrive early often enjoy the mountain more quietly.
